This last story in Judges has been called “The Sewer of the Scriptures.” It holds the dubious distinction of being the most disgusting and degrading story in the Bible.
It depict the depravity and darkness of the people of Israel at this low point in their history. It is a grim and gruesome chapter, but yet important reminder that the corruption that marred Israel’s history is an everyday occurrence in our society as well. God may have recorded this to show us how far we can slip away from Him and what happens when we do. When God goes … anything goes!
