I am the Nursery and Children’s Director. I am also a vocalist on the Worship Team.
I have been with Byron City Church since the church was planted in 2013.
I grew up in church and accepted the Lord as my Savior at 11 years old. After high school, I went to Eastern Kentucky University. I graduated with a BS in Child and Family Studies with a minor in Deaf Education.
After 30 years being out of college I went back to school and got a Masters degree in Special Education. I was scared to go back to school, but I did it with lots of prayers and love from family and friends.
I love serving the Lord by helping others and caring for my family. My heart is happy and smiling when I see my family happy and smiling. I love cats and making things for others.
I am the youngest of seven children, all of which were raised in church and love the Lord. I have three sons who love the Lord: Michael, Stephen and William. My oldest son, Michael, lives and works in Oklahoma. My son Stephen is married to Tasha and they have a son named Ethan. They live in Warner Robins. My son William just got engaged to Hannah and they live in Newnan, GA. Yeah, I'm pretty blessed!!
My favorite verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, ESV:
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
My favorite foods are hamburgers, Mexican food, Chinese food, cottage cheese, and baked potatos.
I like the beach because I can see God’s creation of the ocean and be out in the water. I also like to be on the beach to soak up the sun that God provides.
My hobbies include spending time with my grandson, family and friends. I also love doing puzzles and playing games.
I am a Special Education teacher in the Houston County school system. I was previously a paraprofessional in the school system for 25 years before completing my education degree and becoming a certified special ed teacher. I have been working in nursery and children’s ministry for 28 years. It's amazing to look back and see how the Lord has worked in the lives of all the children I've have seen come through the nursery and children’s areas through the years.
How people misunderstand people with disabilities.
Spending time with my family, and seeing the children I teach be successful in their own way.
