I’m JR, a servant hearted individual that loves the Lord. I have been in middle Georgia since August of 1999 when I retired from the military and moved here to start a job on Robins AFB. I have been a believer in Christ since a very young age. I walked in the flesh for most of my life but was born again in October 2003.
I am an assistant pastor, work the sound booth, and help take care of the “behind the scenes” type things that keep the church running.
I have been with Byron City Church since 2013, near the beginning.
I am married to Carmen for nearly 40 years, and have three grown children (Tamara, Kyle, and Trevor). We are a military family that moved around most of our lives. We met while stationed at Homestead AFB, Florida. We then moved to Ramstein AB, Germany where our two oldest were born.
We spent 7 wonderful years enjoying touring the German countryside and other parts of Europe.
We then moved to North Carolina where the youngest was born. I then had a remote assignment to Korea for 1 year. Then we headed to Panama City, Florida, this is also where I end my 20 year military service.
My favorite bible verse is Proverbs 16:9,
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
This has been evident in my life as I have traveled around. The Lord has placed some very special people in my life throughout my journey, and I have been able to bless others as well. It is truly a blessing to be a servant of the Lord and allow Him to use me in so many different ways.
My favorite foods are numerous and apparent as I love to cook and share my creations whenever I get the chance.
My favorite vacation spot is in the mountains. I love the outdoors and seeing the beauty brought about by the creator. The mountains allow me to see the many wonderful things he has created, from the valleys to the mountain tops. Just like in life we have the highs and the lows, we must see the beauty in both.
My hobbies include Do-It-Yourself projects and helping others. I am an early riser, and believe in getting things done quickly. This allows me to get the most out of a day.
I currently work for The Boeing Company, I am a project lead for F-15 technical publications. My workload is shared with a co-worker in St Louis, MO. Together we both handle all USAF F-15 modification projects to ensure all technical publications are adequately covered for each effort. This is more than a full-time job as the USAF has many projects in work for the F-15 aircraft.
That is a very good question… I tend to look for the bright side in any situation, and try to keep a positive outlook on life. But as we all know too well, the flesh tends to take control all too often as we move through this world. So rather than focusing on what gets under our skin, I tend to look for the positive in all situations.
Making others smile! It’s all part of that servant heart that I have.
