A Quick Update from Pastor Myke about "The Summer Slump"Facing the Challenges of June and July Hello friends! It’s that time of the year. It’s summertime! Time for vacations, cookouts, family get-togethers, and time at the pool. It’s a time of high humidity and high heat, but low giving. June and July are the most challenging months for churches because giving often decreases significantly as attendance decreases and family finances are directed in other places. This is such a predictable time that seasoned church treasurers and accountants call this the “Summer Giving Slump.” We are experiencing our own “slump” right now. Our monthly needs are just over $6000, but we’ve only taken in about $1200, with half the month behind us. Regardless, we aren’t a church that harps on money and giving, and never will be. We trust the Lord and His faithfulness. Yet I feel it is important to bring such a significant shortage to the attention of the Lord’s people so you can be aware of the shortage and so that you can seek the Lord for His continued faithfulness over the church's finances. There’s one thing I know for certain - the Lord has been amazingly good to us through this church planting journey, financially speaking. We’ve always been able to pay the rent, power bill, and other obligations, and usually had a little left over. Yes, we’ve been short some months, but the Lord has always made up for it the next month or the next. As such,
I’d like to ask you to pray for the Lord’s provision and His wisdom as we face this “slump” in giving. Once we’ve done our part, whatever that may be, we can then leave the rest to the good and faithful God we serve. Thank you for your faithfulness to the Lord and to Byron City Church!
